Grant ...I don't know but Headackes, dizzy-ness, sore ear drums and death could mean you have a leak. Put a close ear to the system you may hear the leak. Point the nose of the truck up-wind and pour alittle ATF oil down the carb and watch for smoke leaking. At night I've seen fire in cracks of headers. State inspection stations and muffler shops can sure find'um for a price  ...see what the others say.......ds..

Grant,
You may also hear a slight ticking sound as you push the gas pedal during acceleration while in gear. That is, if you have a trained ear. That's what it sounds like in most cases. You could also try on a cold morning looking under the truck and can actually the exaust coming out of the leak in the smoke form as the truck is warming up. Yet another thing to try is just holding your breath, jumping underneath the truck and try to listen for the leak. That has worked many times for me.
Personally, I hate the way a vehicle sounds with an exaust leak, ecspecially mine. They sound like crap and it is embarrasing to me if I have leak because I am one of those perfectionist types when it comes to the way my vehicles run. Good luck finding the leak, that is, if you even have one.

My favorite method is to run my hand all over the (STILL COOL!) pipe and manifold fittings to pinpoint the source of the noise... A breeze will blow where the problem resides. (Glasspacks make it hard to hear well.)
