How well does the FSJ 727 swap into a CJ7? What is required? Is it a good choice?

what do you have for a motor and t-case? what was in there before? you'll probably have to do something about the crossmember (new one?) make sure you have the proper flex plate on the motor, might have to make up a new shifter for the t-case to go back to the stock location. probably need to go with a B&M shifter or something if you had a manual in the cj7 before.

Sorry, I wasn't more specific. I have an 83 Cj7 with a 258 and a dana 300. I was wondering if a 727 from a 85 wagoneer would swap into my jeep, adn what it would take?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

if the 727 came out behind a 258 in the waggy then you shouldn't really need that much. you'll have to add a tranny cooler, weld the clutch and brake pedals together or take the clutch out all together, the dana 300 should bolt with up. you might have to move the cross member or make up a new one depending on how much longer the 727 is compaired to your manual tranny. it shouldn't really be that bad though.

I bet you will have to have your drive shafts lengthend or shortened when you do this so keep that in mind.

Might wanna check the length of that sucker. You might not need a rear driveshaft!
