Found this on ebay and I thought it was a little over priced:confused: for my budget.
Definately not mine.

Absolutely positively not, but someone else might. That's what the "buy it now" is all about. The starting bid is totally reasonable, but this seller decided that it was worth the extra auction cost to add a $22,000 buy it now option on the off chance that there's someone with the money who will want it bad enough to pay $22,000 to ensure nobody else gets it.

$22k is a little out there, thats a brand new truck. But for maybe $10k if its as good as it looks, and I actually had money. ;)

I'd say it's pretty certain that the bidding will go up to $10,000. With that being the case what point is there setting a buy it now of $10,000?

The urge to get it sold quickly?

One of the top nicest cherokees ever
i dunno, its nice... but not my taste. he removed the chrome surrounds from the window, but left the chrome on the vent window (or failed to paint it, either way you want to look at it), those rims dont fit that truck, the rear axle looks forward even more so than most 80s rigs ive seen, and that rust thats forming near one of his flares doesnt look too great. i wonder what the frame and undercarriage is starting to look like. do they use salt on the roads in IN during the winters?
looks like that jeep has been 'well used' since that restoration

c'mon guys, not only is it rare, but it even has the rare selectrac, which makes it double rare. i mean, think how far and between it is even we find one o' those here?
it's rare to find such a rare vehicle with those rare options.

how many new could you have purchased for $22,000 in 1982? I'm guessing 3 or 4

I wonder how much of that "30k" was spent in rustproofing since it's starting to work it's way through. Otherwise it's a nice looking truck although was there no shots of the motor?

all jokes aside it is a nice rig and i like the color, but i have seen the paint over the rust first hand now on my rig and it will only get worse as the pics show it starting to come out now.

Nice interior on that for sure.
For $22K with a frame off I'd kind of expect no rust anywhere. And with clean parking lenses. And with black paint that went all the way to the back.

I agree with the rust issue. But I actually like the way the black stoped.

The Grill surround doesn't match the year. The grill surround that is pictured is for the 86 and later Wags and J trucks.
Is it worth it? Nope...But, I'm sure that someone will buy it just because it's rare.
Should I demand $20K for my rare and built Sportside? Nope!

Me thinks someone is having a hard time separating the hobby money from the "investment" money. If he paid to have the work done, I beleive he could have dropped $30K on it, shame is it sounds like it is $30K he did not have to spend on the hobby (i.e. flush and forget money).
Still bugs me to see these high $ "resto" jobs, and they wont spend an hour to fix the bent center arm rest support:rolleyes:
Personally, not a high $ rig, too much rust popping up to feel confident that the rest is solid, without a up close and personal.
Overall looks like it would be a nice driver, maybe he will net some with more money than brains, it only takes one.

I still think the seller set his auction up right. It's not a POS. He set it with a reasonable starting bid so it will sell. He's gonna get his money. Then he set up a buy it now that's kind of like a jackpot. It's a gamble, I bet he knows it. We can poke fun, but what if someone clicked on it? It is shiny and rich people love shiny things. Can anyone say payday?

I hope he gets 30K for it. It's like your neighbor that sells their house for three times what they paid; it only drives up your property value. If FSJ's become the rage, all that old rusty junk you have in your back yard could suddenly have value.
An '82' is now a Historic Motor Vehicle. :omfg: Well at least 88's and newer are still modern enough not be Historic Vehicles.
Granted even a 90's wag is more or less the same chassis design from over 40 years ago.
