Okay people...see if you can help me...

I got my Motorcraft (P.O.S.) 4350 4 bbl carb rebuilt. It runs great...one problem... It refuses to crank after sitting for a few hours. It seems to be getting gas, the bowl still has gas in it. Just a tiny shot of starting fluid and it fires up and stays running. I'd hate to think the carb is leaking..... :(

I put in new plugs and a MSD Blaster Coil. I'm thinking maybe I should lose the ballast resistor. I got the coil from a friend and it came with his MSD ignition. I know there is supposed to be a difference in the coils that you use with the MSD box and the coil you use with stock ignition. Could this be the prob?

I'm confused. To me, "won't crank" means it won't turn over by the starter motor. This is a primary circuit problem--battery=>key->starter relay->Starter motor->flywheel. Do you mean "it won't start?" meaning it spins like crazy but won't fire up?

The starter works great! I meant that it won't start. Just one little bitty shot of starter fluid and it fires up. Any ideas?

when it does fire,is there a cloud of black smoke out the tail pipe? by bowl, do you mean the filter or the float chamber?if you remove the air cleaner can you see it squirt gas when you work the throttle linkage? if yes then carb itself is okay, and it may be the choke or a vacuum leak. if no,then take the top off and see if there is gas in the float chamber? if theres no gas , then either the needle and seat are banged up or the float hgt is low or the float is gas logged or the linkage is hanging up.good luck
