It's been hovering around 24 degrees for the past 4 days and the very first start always requires 2 or 3 tries to keep the truck running. Hold the pedal 1/2 down, start, and it will stall. After the second time it will usually run no problem. Hope you Projection users can help. Beyond this quirk it runs fine.
What kind of Pro-Jection are you running? On my 4Di I have yet to encounter a temperature related problem. If changing the throttle angle allows it to start, I suppose checking out the TPS would be my first starting point.

It sounds like you are dumping some extra fuel into it when you stall it out with the 1/2 throttle deal, then when you restart it burns the extra fuel and stays running.
If this sounds right, check the coolant sensor, the Holley manual should have a range in OHMs listed for the sensor. Also, check the wires and connectors, cold contracts metal, maybe a loose connection.
You say it runs ok other then the start up, so I would guess you are running a closed loop system ?? The O2 sensor would keep it running fairly smooth that's why I'd go for the CTS.
let us know how it goes.

do not hold down the gas pedal while starting! that will flood it. heres what i do:
get in. (always helps)
turn key to run position to charge up fuel system and spray a starting charge of fuel on top of the throttle plates.
crank engine.
after about 1 second i open the throttle just a little bit to let the extra air shove the starting charge into the intake (keep cranking).
it starts instantly!
let go of the gas pedal.
buckle seatbelt, turn on lights, etc...
put in gear.
drive to work. (also helps. gotta pay for that gas somehow!)

Thanks all!, Moose that's the way to start the truck. I've been doing ala Holley, wrong.
They told me - cold- hold the pedal 1/2 to the floor and crank. You're way is perfect everytime!

Well, I hate to brag, but I get my stock 2-bbl carb to crank every time, cold or hot, with just a bump of the keyswitch. But then, I'm a perfectionist...
