Update 10-29-07

No I'm not selling my girl.

Started in on the body.

One of my brothers does body work and is cool enough to want to work on my truck.......I hope to learn a thing or two along the way.

on the no wood theme, mine's factory optioned - minus wood trim

i intend to put the wood on it though (after a re-spray) as i reckon the wood is integral to the over all appeal of the rig, the era etc.

I'm not sure what these rims came on originally. I got them from a guy who had them on a Nissan truck. I paid more for the Mcgard lug nuts then I did for the rims.

We just yanked the trim of by hand after drilling the rivets out.
The heat guns did a great job for removing the decal.

That took 3 hours with both of us working on it.

To get the 2 sided tape left from the trim the rubber wheels worked great. Took 1 hour and 1 wheel per side. Just finished that tonight.

That sure looks sweet 18Cherokee

The guys at the chassis dyno Friday are gona love my bomber Jeep.

I think I'll go ahead and put the razor grill on now just to see how it looks.

Do you know if the trim at the bottom of your rig was stock on Wood Delete models?
Is that trim stainless steel?

EDIT: I found a pic (not a good one) of the trim on a Jeep Commander

I would like to duplucate this piece, but replace the word Commander with the words Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer.

that trim on mine is just silver colored plastic. i cant comment on whether or not it was stock - perhaps it was even added by jeep australia when the rigs arrived here? i know of a colorado red rig down here & the same trim is black.

anyway, i saw this site posted here the other day - the trim looks really good - if i were to replace mine with something similar i'd consider one of these options - perhaps it's of use to you?

I like the looks of your molding. I was thing the same thing.....from side marker to side marker.

They sell molding in rolls. But I don't know how you would make a nice looking cut at the doors.

Don't have the wag with me at work today but I think the cuts are beveled

______\ /________ slightly at the doors. I'll try to remember to have a

look tonight.

I used 2" molding on the sides, black with chrome edges, and a thinner chrome molding for the tailgate (see post titled "Makeover Results" in Gen. Discussion Forum), all from PepBoys. I visited a number of body shop suppliers in the Jacksonville area before stumbling on them at PB, and they were considerably less expensive.

The guy who did the paint also did the molding. He beveled the pieces at the doors, but only after test-fitting each piece and observing the opening doors. At the taillights, he cut the moldings to perfectly match the contours of the chrome.

Got the roof rack off and the holes welded, and put the razor on today.

http://mysite.verizon.net/lsjlmiller/grill2.jpg

I'll be using a hood from a '77 so I'm not going to do anything with the hood piece over the grill for now.

I had to make some little tabs out of 1/2x1/16 stock to extend the head light bucket tabs.

Larry

Put the trim in place and then cut though it at the door seams at a 45 degree angle so towards the rear of the vehicle. That way it overlaps when it closes.

Man, I just LOVE the look of uncut 4-doors on 33's with 15"x10" wheels. I don't care if that's not ideal for off-roading, but it sure gives a sweet stance! :)

Glad you guys like it. :D

Tabs are going in the mail Sat.

I made you 9 ;) .....if you are like me, I'm always dropping stuff and loosing them.

You will need 9 ;) 10-32 pan head screws. The shorter the better ( gona need to grind them flush anyhow). These hold the tab extensions to the bucket's tabs. And 9 ;) #8 sheet metal screw to hold it to the Jeep.

I had to point the 2 bottom tabs a little more straight down to reach good metal (old holes in the way). After getting the 10-32 screws tight I had to grind them flush to fit in the head light holes. You will see.

I had to mount the grill loosely ( you might have already mounted it) and lightly screw the bottom vertical screw for the head light trim into the bottom screw hole of the head light bucket....you will see what I mean. Then center the bucket up with the trim ...lining up the rest of the trim holes to the grill...let it lean out and mark the top 2 holes. Remove trim, set it back in there and mark bottom holes.

Then punch mark where to drill for the #8 sheet metal screws and drill with a 7/64 drill.

Put it all together and look what you have.

You will need to aim the head lights when you get it all done.

We have the roof primed.

We broke it into sections so we could get each done in a weekend.

The roof had a very bad low spot from something way to heavy sometime in her life. The brace needed to be raised back up.

We did the front over the holiday weekend.

My Brother had to break out the big guns to fix a deep dent above the windshield from the PO.

Well I had to park it.

It was slowing us down to much doing it in sections.

Got all the glass out from the sides. And removed 2 doors yesterday .

Looks like I'm gona be replacing both rockers and the lower corners in the rear.

The doors are in good shape.

My Jeep was built in May 88....so my brother has this idea to get it done by may of 08.
