What post is #1 on ZM HEI

Can anyone tell me what post is #1 on the zm hei.There are no marks indicating #1 that I can see....I'm also having trouble getting the hei into the block too...The engine timing marks are aligned so I'm up on TDC for #1...I can feel it start to mesh with the cam gear and then it stops (the oil pump gears are not in so I know i'm not hitting that)...I was just trial fitting it....I must have a pure bread Jeep as NOTHING has gone right...I hope this isn't a sign...:rolleyes: Thanks for the info.

Actually, any post can be made to be number one. When the distributor is seated correctly, it will be the post closest to the rotor tip that will allow you enough room to time it correctly. I'm not sure why you can't seat it with not gears in place unless the pump shaft is in.

i had trouble with an other dizzy going into mine...
so i just got it to seat and then moved #1 to the right post,like valdez said!
