Can someone tell me the difference between the 999 TF and the 727 TF. Is it in the pans?
I need to know if my 83 has the 727 or the 999. Thanks

I don't know of any visual differences but there prolly is some. The 999 is supposedly a lighter duty version of the 727. If your rig has the 258/2.73 combo it "should" be the 999. If it has 258/3.31 combo or a V8 it's the 727. The boss at the dowel hole on the pass side of the M20 will have a code stamped into it. B=3.31's, D=2.73's. If the letters are doubled it has TracLoc.

The 904/999 has one corner cut off the pan, The 727 has a dog leg for one side. Also the 904/999 has a vertical rib about half way down the back from the bell housing. The 727 is a smooth slope from bell housing to the main body diameter. The both have fourteen pan bolts so no help there.
