I just picked up the August 07 HOT ROD magazine.
The article is about Bob Petersen's life.
On page 53 they have a pic from the the Petersen Museum from '75. It looks like it has a zebra paint job with rifles mounted to the side of the truck cap. Looks clearly like it has flares.

I haven't seen the magazine, but I'm guessing it's the Daktari Truck that was done by George Barris:

I don't know if this truck was actually used on the show, or if it was a show truck used for promotions.
I credit watching "Daktari" when I was a kid with getting me hooked on FSJ's - along with playing with my Tonka Jeeps.
This is also where the term "Rhino Chaser" grill came from.

There was also a J-10 featured in the 80's; I saved it from the magazine.

Yep...It was from watching Daktari that got me hooked on the J trucks.

I wish I could find more info on this truck.
I wonder where it is now, if it even still exists?
Here's another image of a collector card for it :

And here's a shot of the star of the show, Marshall Thompson, with what is obviously a zebra striped J-truck:

I remember enjoying that show as a kid every Tuesday, later Wednesday evening on CBS just after the news. Don't hear much about it any more.
Perhaps that zebra J truck was Kaiser's last ditch effort at publicity, as most of the 4WD vehicles over there were Land Rovers from what I gather.
