hi guys!
I was having problems with my rear window working and I have found the problem..the switch in the tailgate!anyone know where I can get one?....well now the wiring question..the rear window switch has 6 male bullet connections coming out of the back of it, and there is a plug which plugs into it...well that plug came open and the wires fell out! so what I need is to know where to place those wires in the connector...there is 2 tan wires, 2 brown wires and one red wire...I have a TSM and there is NO schematic for this switch...HELP!!!!!!...my tailgate is down and the window is partially rolled up therefore I can't shut the tailgate until I get this switch wiring figured out! Thanks!

Hi Bart,

If you need to get your window up until you find a new switch you can just put 12V directly to the motor. I had to do that while I was re-wiring and converting my tailgate to a relay system. I eliminated the stock key switch and replaced it with a $3.00 spring loaded [center off] toggle switch. The relays I used are rated at 15 amps and handle the load with no problem. It didn't make sense to me to have all those 10 gauge wires hanging off of the tailgate switch, not to mention the electrical load it was expected to handle.

Kim

did they use the same rear window switch in 1978 as they did in 91?

Bart,

Check your email. I just sent you a picture of the connector that goes to the tailgate switch.

Hope this helps.

i just used a window switch for the front ones, works on, i dont know what its made to handle but i dont abuse it smile.gif

u can just by pass it by taking the wires from the bottom of the tailgate that come from the front switch and going directly to the motor(thats what my setup was when i bought mine)
