GW Stalling out on accel from stop

Bear has started to stall out when I step on the gas occacionally. Always at the worst time (usually when a car is approaching) The EGR may be involved as when I pull the tubes from the CTO @ air cleaner the engine rpm increases and runs much smoother. But I took the EGR valve completely out of the loop and it still does the same thing...Rebuilt carb a while ago...Starts good...runs smooth...no back fire...did once or twice a while ago but not since...would a power valve cause this...I see they can blow out with a back fire...Really stumped here... :confused:

My hesitation and stalling problem with starting out from a stop was always the accelerator pump diaphram. There's a hole at the bottom of the cover that you can look at and see if it is dripping any gas. They carry them in bulk at Carquest and they are $2.50 each. It and the powervalve always seem to give out a couple of times between rebuilds.
