looking for a fuel level sending unit

I think mines toast. I get an open when testing with the ohm meter. Who knows the specs for ordering a new one? Better yet whats the best source? Can I get in from the top on my 83' Cherokee? Thanks for anything you got.

Lift the floormat, there should be a circle riveted to the floor. Be careful when you drill the rivets out, the tank sits fairly close to the floor and you can make a hole in it.
