Hey folks, I have been a very person this morning. I tackled most of my problems this morning on my Jeep. I had it last night with it running hot due to the upper piece of the fan shroud breaking off and it running like crap because of the exhaust leak.
1.) Fan Shroud: I kept the old piece that broke off so after getting the dremel out making some steel brackets and drilling some holes, the pop rivets went right in and now I have a complete fan shroud again. I am waiting for the epoxy to set right now.
2.) Exhaust Leak: The PO of the Jeep took all of the pollution equipment out with the exception of the air injection rail on the passenger side. Well the tubes were completely rotted through and the truck was loud as he!!, and it was running and performing like crap! Got the trusty Dremel tool out made some cuts, got some big screws and a screw driver and presto, my exhaust leak is gone and the Wag is running much happier and cooler now.
It felt really good when I started her up and she was nice and quiet.

It's not supposed to be nice and quiet. Take the screws back out so it is NICE AND LOUD again :D

Seriously though atleast someone is getting to work on their jeep, I am jealous  smile.gif

Hehe, mine used to be pretty dang loud too, if you working on it for a while, while it idled, your ears would start to ring.... so i fixed the air tube holes, tighten the pipes up to the manifolds, and put new manifold gaskets on, now its much better, until you get on the gas ;)

I used fiberglass to repair my fan shroud. Works great. I haven't found a good epoxy that really sticks to that fiber composite material those shrouds are made out of.

Congrats on your recent jeep improvements - but I'd just have to say that I serious doubts about a piece broken off your fan shroud causing the truck to run hot. I've owned 6 FSJs now and not ONE of them ever even had a fan shroud by the time I was owner. A few ran hot at first but this was all fixed with the appropriate repairs such as coolant flush, water pump, new radiator, fan clutch, etc.

The truck is actually running a bit cooler now, I am still going to put in a 180 thermostat for the beach and am going to have the system back flushed.
