will fuel sending unit from wagoneer fit a cherokee?

i found a wagoneer (79) with a sending unit. i havent checked it to see if its good. but will it fit / work in my 79 cherokee? any other years/models that will work?

Yes it will work, I believe 70 to 79 are the same, possibly earler years even, 80 and up went to a plastic tank, I would imagine the sending units to be different.

The 1968 tank was the same as the 1970 in a wag.
