strange noise from front under heavy acceleration?

hey guys!...

I have this strange knocking noise coming from the front left under heavy acceleration......It sounds like a REALLY bad ping, but with a deeper tone......It seems to be coming front the front left wheel area or front diff......any ideas?

I had a noise that developed into a bad grinding sound. Turned out I had put the snapring in the wrong slot when reassembling my front hub, and this was enabling the axle shaft to slide in and out of its seating.

My latest front noise was the frnt driveshaft CV. It sounded to me like gravel in the diff. I would have swore it was the front diff, but I'm drivers side diff also. It's an easy check though, just grab the front shaft and shake and you'll know. Quick one to eliminate if it's not the problem.
