Those two sites are really all you need. Do it, it made a huge difference for me. The only thing that is up in the air is whether or not to run a full 12v line or not. I don't, but I might later on. Huge difference even without the 12v though. Good luck...that passenger rear spark plug is a real challenge!

I don't think the coil is made for straight 12v, although I know some that use it that way. If all is hooked up right, then you won't need the full 12v to get a great performance boost. Just hook up the coil wires from the old to the new, and you're all set.

The main boost in the upgrade is the hotter voltage of the coil. I'm not sure I put stock into the large distributor cap theory, since GM uses small caps which seem to work great, but I used the newer Ford parts anyhow.

The coil is made for full 12 volts and i run the stock cap on mine with no probs not even in hood deep water, just don't grab the dizzy cap when running, it will light up your life even with 8 mm wires, my gas mpg has gone up to 16.4+ on road trips in mine compard to 13mpg before. with the tfi upgrade.
