I"m finishing up with my transfercase upgrades soon and was wondering if this is the right bronco transfercase to use for the 2.46 conversion.
my mods right now are a custom made twin stick, and 32 spline rear output (advance adapters). was thinking about going with the tera low but its really pricey. http://fresno.craigslist.org/pts/341470499.html

ive been inside the 18/20 cases quite a bit,and have done a few bronco conversions. there is alot of info in a discussion i had over on jeeps unlimited:
http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472498

there are some discrepencies on the internet on spicer numbers,so the tooth counts are really whats important.

dont know if that helps, any, but let me know if ya have any other questions :)

i do have a couple PMs on spicer#s that i could forward you,,but im late for work at the moment

I have a question. It is kinda not really related to your post. But I was wondering if either one of you knew how long the bronce D20 is? From the front face where it bolts to the trans, to the center of the rear U-joint. Just wondering.....

If I'm not mistaken I believe you need 2.46:1 Dana18 gears with the 33-tooth sliding gear from an early Early Bronco Dana20 (late 60's-early 70's model)

gnarly... I need to figure this out before I start to do it. all i know is I need a dana 20 from a early bronco and a d18.. when i get those I'll figure it out.

Make sure the Dana18 is a '55 model or newer version that has the bigger intermediate shaft in it. The '54 and older versions have the smaller, weaker shaft.

FYI :

www.performanceoffroadcenter.com (http://www.performanceoffroadcenter.com) is advertising the Dana20 low gear set in the vendor forum on www.pirate4x4.com (http://www.pirate4x4.com) for $599.99 SHIPPED

the bronco case will share a couple different gears with the spicer 18. only thing you really will need from the d18 is the lower slider. the intermediate gear, lower high range gear, and input gear will be the same spicer #s in both cases. :)
