I need to outboard the springs on the front..I have an idea for the rear via Andrew..But I need some ideas for the front..Pics would be best. Even if someone has a picture of the front end with the bumper off with stock spring setup. My Jeep is 1900 miles away..I have a hard time looking at it. Thanks

what size tires ya running? make sure they dont hit @ full lock.

as for hanging them, what about some generic hangars w/ some boxing to the side of the frame.

any particular reason your going to outboard them in the first place?

yeah im getting ready to do this myself. im doing it because im running a 90's model ford kingpin dana 60 and the perch width is i think 3.5 inches wider than a 79 dana 60 or the stock dana 44's

Guess you will need something like this...

...but I know darn well you have the skills to make your own.

I like those..Yea, I could definetly make them..but Time is a HUGE issue here. I won't be around my Jeep till Xmas Break to work on this whole conversion. I'm hoping I'll be able to make some in solidworks and use the welding lab here. I just need to start finding measurements for everything and angles. I was thinking of adding a plate to the bottom of the frame..kind of like on the RB kit, that attaches to the bracket.

Tad, I saw something in the picture and meant to ask, I noticed the spring hangers in the pics have a bead on the inside bend in the hangers, I assume this is a strength matter to keep them from bending side to side?

I'm getting ready to do a similar project and already have my box steel to make my hangers from. I'll be removing post mounts and outboarding/ drop mounts to run later model springs.

It looks to me like the hangers are made from 3 pieces, welded and then the outside is ground down to make it look like a one piece unit that was made in a press break. That would explain the inside weld.

That's correct Andrew. The grinding (it's actually just radiused with a high speed sander) is just to make them correct for front FSJ fitment purposes, nothing special, except they are 1/4" thick as opposed to the stock FSJ 3/16" thick front ones.

No, it's just to insure 100% penetration on the weldment and makes sure there is more than 1/4" of material there. If you have some spare 3.5" x .25 wall box tube, it's a perfect fit, it just real pricey these days and making them this way eliminates all that pesky cutting, grinding and drilling.

When I get back from NM next week I'll mock up an idea I have that would incorporate a top plate that would allow for outboarding without adding any upper material.
