It's times like this that I love living in a small Mid-Western town.
The first of two summer festivals that we have here is this weekend, and last night there was a cruise-in to benefit the local "families in crisis" shelter.

They closed of the whole 2-block downtown and an additional block for overflow and charged each car $10.00, with all the procedes going to the shelter.

The weather was perfect, there was good (BAD for you) food, music playing and a HUGE turn out. As I walked down the street, it seems that I knew every other person that I passed.

So here's a pic of my J200 parked among the usual row of Chevy's, Mustangs, Camaros etc. My truck is always a big hit with kids (young and old) at these kind of shows.

It was appropriate that this was on Flag Day, 'cus this is about as American as it gets...

Frank Your Jeep deserves to be front and center. It is the perfect example of what I would like to have. I cannot imagine a better venue to share your Jeep. I bet most people if they were told that there is a Jeep Truck on display at a car show could care less; however, when they see what you have to show, it must really change the whole thougth process!! Keep it up. Lets see some more of your collection!!!!!!!!!

PS You have made a big difference in the detail work on my Jeep and deserve such a big Thanks!

I love that big "TONKA" sticker on the door:thumbsup:

A couple weeks ago our local car club had their annual show.
Out of nearly 500 vehicles, only 3 were FSJ's, my gray Waggy, and of course one other gray Waggy and one early 80's J10 for sale in the swap meet area.
It's great hear comments about these things and hearing stories from the people who used to have one, or one of their relatives etc.
Also a great way to find out about possible parts ones too.

The town that our local ORV is closest to actualy added a Jeep off-road class to their carshow. And it is always requested that we join the parade!

That pic strikes close to home! I just moved back to my small home town and decided to fix up and drive my J-10 rather than buy a new truck. Where did you get that top? It fits my needs perfect. I have dirt bikes, but I also like some shade. Was it made specifically for a Jeep truck or is it a different application that fits ok? Is it fairly easy to put up and take down? Can the frame fold up or come apart for easier storage? Sorry so many questions, but It took me a long time to decide between my waggy and my truck and that would be the best of both worlds!

The topper on my truck is a vintage Jeep accessory made by Whitco. I bought it from Jeep collector Jim Marski. He got it in a big lot of NOS Jeep parts, and he only had two Jeep trucks and they both were 8' boxes and this one fits a 7 footer.

It is meant to be "convertible", but I usually take it off completely and carefully store it when I need to haul something bigger.

This is the only one I've ever seen so finding another might be a tall order. I don't know if there are any aftermarket companies making them now - if so you could check the measurements of some newer trucks of various makes to see if you can find one to fit.

If you ever take it off could you take some pics of the frame and general construction? I live in a town full of boat and canvas shops and it might not be to tough to roughly copy. It would just get abused on my truck, so it wouldn't need to be a dead knock off, just something functional! I know there is a company called Canback(I think), and Bestop is getting into that sort of thing as well. Maybe they already make something that will work.

I have heard that the earlier model Dakota truck beds have about the same size opening as a j truck bed,at least the 8 ft ones,so look there.

Ric-

It has this label on it, so it's a Jeep specific part:

I've also heard that the 8' dakota bed is really close in size to the 8' J-truck .
