Hi all,

I drained the front differential and pulled the $electTrac vacuum motor off the diff case and rebuilt it. I took some pictures of rebuilding the vac motor so I can write up a little description of what I did. Here is the rub. When I went to get a new gasket, the parts guy at Checker and AutoZone couldn't find a gasket to fit. I am pretty sure this is a Dana 44 up front, but the Dana44 gasket wont fit. Did jeep modify the D44 housing to hold the vacuum disconnect, or is it a different axle all-together?

One other thing, the parts guys called them 'spicer 44' rather than 'dana'...Why?

The cover gasket on a vac axle D44 is different than the gasket for a conventional D44 front axle.
They used to be Spicer axles way back when but Dana bought them out years ago. You'll see the same reference to Spicer transfer cases etc...it's all Dana now and has been for a long time.
