Anybody tried to convert their Motorcraft distributor to hold a TFI module?

Ford has a class action lawsuit against them for the TFI ign module quitting without warning due to too much heat being mounted on the dist.

Why would you want to use the TFI module? We just use the TFI style coil and the duraspark box, or better yet, the MSD box.
There were some bad factory TFI coils from what I remember hearing, so I wouldn't get a coil from a junkyard Taurus or whatever. Just bet a replacement from the parts store.

I'd like to retain as many parts as possible in the course of building a port fuel injection system. Aftermarket ECU's can control ignition timing via a TFI module.

I did the Ford Duraspark upgrade on my 258 in my '82 Waggy today. I replaced the distributor cap, cap adapter, and rotor with parts from a late 80s Ford I6. I also got new 8mm plug wires, and new spark plugs since they needed changing anyway.
I called up Summit Racing and they sent me a MSD series 2 coil, it is the canister type that fits in the stock mount and hooks up fine to the upgraded distributor.
