Auto zone shows two clutch kits for my 81 J10. One is a 10.5 and one is 10.58 they say. Without taking the clutch out, is there anyway of knowing? I have the 258 t176 208 combo. Thanks Dennis

If it was my Jeep I'd go with the biggest clutch I could get. I'm going with a 12" when I do the engine swap this week.

I just got an 11'' clutch for mine. It's the same setup that you have. Think the actual size was like 10.98 or something around there.
as 64Trvlr said though, the bigger the better. Get the biggest one they've got.

Yeah bigger is better right?
Not in all circumstances.
Remember that the whole clutch system is designed around a particular clutch size.
If you add a bigger clutch and do not change the clutch fork to one of proper length, it will not fully disengage.
Found a really good article on properly configuring a clutch system for long life and performance. Will try to find it.
Your 81 fell through the cracks in my library :( I don't have an 81 TSM. In 80 the 258 clutch in FSJ's was the 10.5" but in 82 it was the 11".
Anyone with an 81 TSM?
FWIW if the clutch fork is any indication as Celadus mentioned above, the 81 uses the same clutch fork as the 82+ and the 1980 year used a different p/n.
