Hi wondering if anyone knows horsepower/ quarter mile specs for the amx/javelin. also, what would be more desirable, the 390 or the 401? 4 speed or auto? thanks ;)

flat out the 401..for stock form, but you can really build both engines wild. Stick or auto.....Hmmm thats a personal issue, personally i think guys who wheel with sticks are nuts..but then again its a personal preference

Power numbers between the 390/401 get a bit hairy to compare as they are gross/net. I believe the AMX 390s were built from the factory with the most power but it's mostly horsepower and wouldn't really be an engine suited to our rigs. 390s are also quite a bit harder to find as they were only made for about 2.5 years, not as many parts available either.

As for the stick/auto argument - hehe. For what? If you're talking 1/4 time a well driven stick will beat an auto, most of the time. Anything else is personal preference.

Anyone who's ever been halfway up Potato Salad Hill or a similar obstical and stalled the engine will definitely appriciate an auto, and if they would choose a stick in that situation, they are, by my definition, nuts. :D
