J-10 Golden Eagle??

Had a friend call me today who knows someone who is selling a J-10 PU. (I've never seen this truck-it is a 3 hour drive for me)Anyway he says the truck is in really good shape & runs good but needs an alternator. He also told me it has an eagle on the hood & says Golden Eagle on it. Did Jeep make a Golden Eagle PU or has someone put this emblem on it?? I've seen the golden eagle cj's but haven't ever seen it on a J-10 PU. Truck has 403 in it & is 400.00-figure I can't go wrong on it anyway!! :D :D
I'd appreciate any info on this.

I have a J-10 Golden Eagle. It has a 401 and someday it's going to move under it's own power again! I say go for it, but then, my opinion is biased.

I Need to correct on that motor size!! Yes, it is a 401. I'm kinda brain dead today!!Thanks for the info. I didn't realize they made a Golden Eagle in the J-10's.

Yes, they came on CJ's, J-10's and Cherokees for '79 and the first half of '80. Second half of the 1980 model year they called it a "Golden Hawk", and then they dropped it for 1981.

It's a wonder them using Golden Hawk that they didn't get a lawsuit from who ever held the rights to Studebaker names and logos. Maybe they didn't know about is since it lasted only 1/2 a year.
