Lookin' at adding a roll on bedliner to the J and am looking for the most professional results I can get. Anyone have any comparisons between these competitors?

Check out the link to my gallery in my signature- I have some pics on the last page of the Rustoleum "Road Warrior" bedliner I did to my J4000. It is comparable to the herculiner but the finish is a little smoother- doesn't tear the flesh off your knees when you need to get something out of the back. I bought it at a big box hardware store and got the compete kit for under $70.

I've used Herculiner with good results as J4 mentions it is pretty rough. I have seen Durabak also. Nice that they have colors but I have seen beds done and the color faded pretty bad after a year or so. I guess UV rays affect the colors pretty bad. Check their website I think they have a clear UV topcoat now to help with that. I actually have a local guy that does Speedliner for cheap. $300 for an over the rail bed job. Stuff is real good just not as know as Line X or Rhino Line.

I've had black Durabak in my CJ for over 5 years now. It is exposed to sun/rain/snow/whatever and still looks good. There are a couple spots along the edge where it is peeling a bit. Considering the abuse I put it through I can't complain - very happy with it.

I've seen Herculiner do some naughty things. I wouldn't really go that route. A friend had it in his YJ and it got eroded away by sand and dirt, chipped easy and was affected by the heat of the driveline through the floors.

I don't know which roll on bedliner I have in the bed. A PO did it.
A little faded from the sun. Considering it has been abused with big rocks, gravel, lava rock, shovels, furniture, etc, it sure has held up great.

Hecurliner is really particular about prep work. With the proper surface prep, it works very well, but if the surface isn't roughed up or if there's any kind of dirt or residue on the surface, it won't stick.

That said, I've had the outsides of my truck covered in the stuff for over 6 years and lots of Arizona bushwhacking and it's held up well.

I spent 12 hours doing the prep work on my TJ tub and the stuff still came up in the floorboards, scraped easily, etc. I think if you spray it you might get halfway decent results, but if I ever put bedliner in anything again, it will be Rhinoliner or Line-X. Just pay the extra to have a shop do it, because its worth it, and you usually get a warranty. Especially when you've spent the money on a nice resto such as your Gladiator. JMHO. ;)

I haven't used it yet, but just wanted to throw it out there that it is available. I picked it up at a paint shop here, I picked it over the others because it can be tinted just like paint so you can have about any color you want. I had mine tinted beige so it will match the interior of my wag.

IIRC, Durabak is used by the US Navy for non-slip shipboard deck coating. And it can be purchased in many different colors (directly from the manufacturer) if desired.

I hear it is also somewhat bullet resistant... that being said, does that mean if you coat a car in it you can piss off anyone you'd like without fear?:D
