Friend just bought 82 Wagoneer, has a 219 T-case. Dont know much about this case, my 82 Cherokee has a 208. Anyone with any experience with the 219? Is this considered a full-time case?

yes it is a full time case. you have a full time 4 hi,and a locked 4hi and dlo.no 2wd.
i wheeled one in my amc eagle with 31s and in my GW with 38s for a couple of years, and i had a good experience with it. it held up well and never gave me any trouble till the chain started slipping,at wich point i replaced it with a 207.
keep a good chain in it and the 219,IMO, is much stronger than the 228/229. it also has a simple single lever, instead of the prollematic vaccum shifter found on the 228/229.
the locked hi range is nice for those occasions that you have to drive on only the front-something you cant do with the 228/229.
the full time 4x is nice for a snow/ice street driven rig

i loved the 219 in my 81. full time handles sweet. Marina loved it too, no fiddling around to get into 4 wheel. down side is slightly less mpg.
