Yeah I remember there other tailgates go for like $800 or something stupid like that. It is a really good idea though keep us updated on how you get yours done.

4 wheel parts featured something similar by Wilco Products, it was in the June Off-Road Adventures magazine for $330. Still pricey but better than $600-$800. Looks cool:thumbsup: .

Edit: My bad, that one is the same manufacturer... guess their website MSRP is a little high??
