Doing a little work on the the 79 Chief rencently (dynamat/Durabak 18 combo on the inside) and pulled it out into the yard so I could open all the doors (Durabak fumes). Anyway, I was parked next to my 81 Scrambler and when I came back out after eating lunch it struck me that a built Scrambler is no longer a "baby Jeep". Here they are sitting next to each other:

Here's another angle:

Both vehicles have FSJ Dana 44's with 35x12.50 tires. Chief has a 4" lift and Scrambler 6".
The J trucks in the background are to be parted out when I have time.:drivin:
Nice couple of rigs ya got there! I sure like my 82 CJ8 too.

Nice Pair!
Theory: The CJ8 got a DNA infusion from a FSJ with the axle upgrades. ;) Besides, who wants to ride in a baby Jeep on 6" lift and 35s? Don't they fall over too easy? :D

I want a scrambler soooo bad.
found one in atl for 20 grand. Can you believe the price of them.
This had a frame of resto and significant improvements. But 20G? That must be his Stupid Price, not his Real Price.
If anybody knows about a good scrambler let me know

How about some update on your M715 project.
Doing a little work on the the 79 Chief rencently (dynamat/Durabak 18 combo on the inside) and pulled it out into the yard so I could open all the doors (Durabak fumes). Man..we really need to have a VA get together sometime this summer after camp jeep is over with...there seemed to be a bunch of us in Richmond and surrounding areas...
But I agree...My truck on 39s will be the same height as my CJ on 36s was...but a lot wider :D

"Baby Jeep" is a term of endearment, much like my "big" sister (she's 12 years older than I, but more than a foot shorter).
That said, how many stock "baby jeeps" does it take to equal the weight of one stock FSJ? In stock trim, FSJ's have a longer wheelbase, weigh more and are wider than "baby" jeeps.
That, and it ticks off owners of baby jeeps, especially when you have an FSJ and they don't (otherwise known as Jeep envy, size does matter!)

No matter what gets done to a CJ,TJ,YJ, ect. it will always be a "baby jeep" compared to the SJ. Same goes for the box jeeps too. I like them all but I want the FSJ designation all to myself.

"That, and it ticks off owners of baby jeeps, especially when you have an FSJ and they don't (otherwise known as Jeep envy, size does matter!)" Which is why I own both. lol Nothing like spreading the love around to ALL Jeeps big and small. :D

Well, the Chief and Scrambler are just two of my Jeep projects (they are mostly complete, if I would just stop thinking of something else I want to add). I am currently trying to finish my 69 Commando trail rig project for the Fall runs. It is getting a set of FSJ axles just like the Scrambler. that way I can swap wheels/tires between all of my Jeeps (except the M715).
Ralph,
The buildings in the pictures are our carriage house and smokehouse. The wife and I have been restoring an 1829 Virginia Federal style Plantation house and outbuildings for better than 20 years - kept me away from Jeeps for over 15 years. Since you asked, here is the main house:
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e345/Grantshire/Horn%20Quarter/Frnt1.jpg
The property had six building in addition to the main house but no barns! When we bought it I was in the middle of re-powering my 62 Willys pickup (second owner and it only had 35,000 miles on it). I boxed everything and tarped the Willys but the years and neglect got to it and it rusted away.:banghead:
When I got back into Jeeps I built myself a one car garage/workshop; not a lot of room but it works. Since it is behind the carraige house my wife can't see how many Jeeps I have hidden back there (I have four more than you see in the two pictures). I figure I am just making up for lost Jeep time!:D
