Had some punks vandalize the neighborhood last weekend. They knifed two of the 38" Dirt Grips on the CAT:mad: . F*&%! PUNKS! Now I'm out $700 and have to order some new ones.

Just venting.

Call your insurance company and add "comprehensive" coverage (if you don't already have it)...it will cost hardly anything in premium and covers vandalism, broken windshields, etc . You don't need to have collision coverage to have comprehensive coverage. On these vehicles - I bet the premium is less than $20/6 months with little or no deductible.

And if you were to take a baseball bat to the vandles knee caps, You'ld be the bad guy! Man sometimes I don't get it!

Thanks for advice, I removed full coverage from the CAT a few months back since I'm working out of town and not using it much(picture of Heimeken kicking himself in the arse here)

You might try purchasing the tires from 4WheelParts. They can warranty your tires. I have a "road hazard" package on my IROKs. I cut the tire real bad awhile back and they were cool about it and gave me a new tire. Of course, they pro-rate it but that's better than forking out $700. Just a thought.

Sounds like you need to find that person(s) wrap that 38 around them and set it ablaze

Was it parked at your house, you might want to see if your homeowners policy covers it. However if it makes your rates go up, well then.....

i have that same **** for my tires. less than 50% worn and they give you a new one for free (you have to purchase the warantee again though). less than 50% and they pro-rate you. any hazard, on road or off. (altough i think the have a part in there reguarding vandalizm)

Sorry to hear of the loss!

Vandals, usually near by High School scholars,, occasionally visit our area. Twelve years ago I had six tires knifed, Eight years ago our neighbor had “donuts” spun in her grass and 5 years ago our mailboxes bit the dust.
... I think the kid that knifed the tires had a change of heart and bought my car with the four flats! I had fixed the 4 flats gluing rubber bands in the cuts ... kindda like Cole Trickle did to that tire he plugged the sidewall then drove up Poughkeepies Gulch with it…

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

Attention Greenies: The government is allowing importation of merchandise from countries that are polluting the atmosphere worse than our country is. This importation costs the U.S. jobs and make our borders less secure. Just one of the millions of un inspected container loads could disrupt our economy and life as we know it! Go hug a tree in China!

Covered under your homeowners or renters pollicy? Someone broke the back window in my truck a few years ago, and when I talked to my agent he put it through on our homeowners policy.

Sorry to hear about this Jaimie. If you've got the road hazard warranty though you should be in pretty good shape. Keep us posted.

Man that sucks! I would kill for less than that! I hope the cops checked for prints because I'm sure if they took the time to slash the tires then they musta checked the doors to see if they were open.

We need to take control of our neighborhoods. We need to get to know our neighbors and keep track of what goes on around the streets where we live. Thirty years ago I was one of those "vandals". I was the guy that would tow your car that ran out of gas on the side of the highway and strip it for parts. People would watch me do it and turn the other way. "Didn't want to get involved".
I have since mended my ways. Now I am the guy that will pick you up and take you to the gas station and put a couple of gallons in MY gas can and take you back to your car, so you can go on your merry way, without payback. :D Just Pay it forward.
People that slash your tires don't do it just because they're there. They do it for a reason. It's not easy to slash tires (it looks easy in the movies). Maybe your the guy that yells a screams at the kids down the street for playing their stereo too loud or for riding their dirtbikes too close to your yard. Anyone in your neighborhood that you are at odds with? Do they have teenagers? Someone slashed your tires for a reason, not just because they were there for the slashing.

Yup, I have the same thing on my TSL's that I got from 4wheelparts. They are pretty good about that stuff.

Check the homowners policy Jaime.
I did it once on a car that was stolen from my apartment and it was covered.
Might be close to a wash with the deductable but it's worth a shot.

I had the swampers slashed on my Bronco several years back( I worked all summer for those tires). Random acts of vandalism are stupid, but lets face it, many of us here have done the dirty in some form at some point during the 'stupid years'. I even saw them drive away laughing.

I'm sure the guy's parents were upset when all 4 tires on his car were melted, the brakelines were cut,all glass was broken and various rubber/plastic engine pieces came up missing and the car was found sitting in the middle of the street covered in axle grease.

OF course I don't condone this type of behavior

and I admit to nothing

You can only hope to catch them in the act

I feel for ya man. $700 for two tires......That is a full weeks pay for some people.

If you did get them from 4WP then all you have to do is send in a small section of the tires with the DOT number on it. There doesn't have to be complete evidence of the tire slashing. I say use it to the fullest. If you want say you ran over an alernator laying in the road. the small fan cut the sides of the tires out (true story when I was 17).

I have to say that my first thought was that it was a personal attack. But I couldn't think of who it might be  , when the cops showed up they assured me that there were multiple cars hit in the area. These guys had definetely planned this, they must have had a very sharp dagger to punch through those thick sidewalls.

That bites bro, hopefully they can find the perps and make them pay...

Roadhazzard is nice to have, ran over a rail-road spike with the XJ and had to pay $3 for a brand new tire no questions asked, hopefully they'll be able to take them back for ya. Good luck.
