Took the GW out today for a quick spin to the car wash and then to the inspection station. Well, I guess she didn't want to be inspected, because pulling out of the car wash bay, it didn't feel right. I had to pull across two lanes of traffic, so I goosed the gas to see what would happen first before leaving the parking lot. She stalled. She wouldn't start. Got a jump. She turned over then stalled immediately. Repeated efforts had the same result. Thinking it's a fuel problem for reasons I won't get into here.

So here's where it gets weird....

I get a flat bed tow to the shop, and pulling into the lot there's a CHERRY GW parked there already. And the owner is there picking it up so we get to talking. His '89 Wag has 6,500 miles on it! Has been in a heated garage all this time. He's putting it back on the road because he's selling his '88 GW with 19,000 miles  .

I know, I know, :worthless:

Sorry, don't have a camera phone. But I wrote down the URL for this site and he said he'd check it out. He wanted to look into getting an HEI like mine for his '89.

So were the jeep gods rubbing my face in it or what?

Considering you just washed it you might have just gotten the distributor wet, happens to me occasionally. Just shoot some WD-40 in it and it usually starts up fine afterwards.

I know exactly how ya feel there. These last two weeks have been crazy for me. Been spending alot of my free time working on the honcho so I can finally pass an inspection. I actually had to cancel one appointment because when I was finishing it up, I go to start it up and got nothing. Turns out the fuel pump picked just the right time to crap out on me. At least it happened in my driveway, not out on the road or at the guys shop. As of right now its failed twice, I've fixed supposed problems and am now waiting for another appointment. Third times a charm?

Good luck with your inspection.

Its a place where, in certain parts of the country, unlucky jeepers are made to take our rigs anually to be looked over by a "professional" who then gives you a list of things which must be addressed before you can continue to use the vehicle. Once you've completed these tasks, you can take it back to again have this "professional" look your rig over to see that you fixed all of the problems. Then one of two things can happen depending on luck of the draw, he can put a little sticker in your windshield that tells the police it's okay for you to be driving that vehicle, or he can give you another list of things to work on. I think the idea is to eventually have a vehicle that has that little sticker on it but I could be wrong...

LMAO...
