Yes it is the same. Kinda freaked me out at first. Didn't look the same. I just slid it under up to the springs. I was happy.

J10/J20 Project...Thanks for the heads up Tuesday on the '74 J20. I talked to Dennis that day and was on my way Wed. This thing is a real beauty. I couldn't believe it was in the shape it was in. I was figuring it wouldn't have one straight side. I'll post pics in the Gen.Dis. when I get'em. Anyways thank you.

I will check tomorrow for Texas. I have the 60 under the truck now. The gas tank is so close. I need to put the 2" body lift on soon.

TexasJ10, there 50" I just measured the 78 J10 axle. It is out and the 60 is in. It is ever so close to the tank.

Thanks again for providing the measurement. When I try to measure mine while still in the truck it is hard to get a good reading.

Isn't the 83 Dana 60 a center diff verses the passenger side offset of the 78? I think this is the reason that you can't find a post 1980 gas tank for a j10 but you can still find 1979 and before. It may also be why your tank is so close to the diff. You may have to find a later model tank. That 83 d60 was a good find. I am still looking for a post 1980 d60 for my truck.
