I ordered it and the adapter today from alternatorparts.com
They actually have a guy that answers the phone and really knows what he's talking about, gave me his name and said to call back if I have ANY questions at all. $200 delivered. Probably better deals out there but I like the service aspect. Highly recommend at this point. I know this is a favorite topic so I'll post up after it's done with my personal experience. Hope to get to it this weekend. I'm about as good as a trained monkey so it should be interesting. :D Good excuse for getting a cooler of beer going in the morning at least.

Good upgrade! I don't think anybody knows what happened to Spectre, but he had a decent write up on this, may help you with the swap, maybe not:

Post up your results when done!

I've read it many times along with Walt's. Bit of inspiration. I'll post up and try and get some pics if something warrants. (Other than blood and beer cans) You still doing wiring harnesses?

Not right now, haven't had much time lately with the family stuff and house hunting. The wife did just let me buy another wag though, so I'm excited about that (won't be here till early June).

That's good news brother! I've been kicking around the headlight harness issue so let me know when you get back into it.

My only problem with my CS144 upgrade is the belts. I can't get enough tension on them and if I use a shorter belt I can't get them on because the larger alternator doesn't swing as close to the engine? Who is using which belts successfully? My work but they SQWEEL and the alternator pully actually heats up from the friction.

How's the alignment? Not that I have any experience, but I saw somewhere that that is an issue.

Be sure to upgrade the wiring to handle that amperage.

Do I just need to upgrade the charging line or is there something else? Thanks.

I've seen 0 to 6 gauge on here. Pretty wide margin. What are the results?

6 Gauge is good for roughly 100 amps. The question is, how much load are you going to put on your alternator. 4 gauge is a good safe bet, not too expensive to do considering the short length. There are more complicated formulas to determine AWG based on current and length, but I think you'd be fine with 6 or 4 gauge.

No huge load on there. I'm just doing the upgrade to bring it up to speed so to speak. New stereo but no big amps or anything like that. 4 sounds like it may be the way to go.

Good luck. If you need a harness down the road for lights or something else, let me know, I could probably find time for one. I stocked up to make a bunch of them but never did so I'm loaded with supplies.
