Bummed. This morning the Jeep wouldn't start. I don't want to keep turning it over because I don't have a way of jumping the battery until tonight. So, symptoms, details...
> Cranks but doesn't catch. Tried for 30-60 seconds.
> Initially I depressed/held down accelerator a few times but I stopped doing that on recent "test" starts; flooding fear.
> Took off air filter, toggled throttle and I see spritzes of gas in mix chamber (?) (MC2100).
> Gas smell in engine bay, more pronounced after "test" starts.
> Checked dis. rotor and cables and they look okay.
> My tailgate window works... (kidding)
Thoughts?
My tools are offsite so I get too involved in anything. Its also my daily driver so I'm very late for work now...lol.
.
if it's cranking and you have gas then it sounds like a spark issue.
are all connections on the starter solenoid (speciically to the coil) tight/rust free??

Sorry to hear of the problem.
Thoughts;
Bad needle and seat..
bad power valve..
weak or no current to the coil
Try pulling a plug , shorting the body of the plug then crank engine for spark...
Have a good one http://www.michiganjeepers.com/forums/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif and CUL.. Don S..

check to see how far your spark is getting.
Like Don says, pul a plug and check for spark, if no spark, keep working backwards in the electrical system until you see/get spark.

Cable to ig coil is tight. I have to do a spark plug test later today/tomorrow (no spare plugs or tools...). Good tip.

sounds like the ford ignition module to me

Guess what. On this chilly morning, it started right up.. Didn't have to do a thing. Weird.
when the choke does not close properly on mine i have to manually close so it will start

Sounds like it may have just been flooded. My old Mcraft 2100 used to be pretty darn easy to flood. And then it used to be a real pain to start. I knew the carb was the problem so I pulled it off and did a total rebuild. When I got the cover off I discovered that the needle was not stopping the flow of fuel to the carb. I put in a new needle, and set, replaced the float linkage and that did the trick.
