What axles come on a 79 cherokee?

Hey guys...

I have been looking for months now to find the perfect starter rig....decent condition and not too expensive :thumbsup:

My question is this....

I am looking at a 78 or 79 cherokee and the owner is telling me that there are dana 60's on it.

I am pretty sure they are dana 44's but I want to be absolutley positive.

I need your expertise to help me out on this.

Both are D44's.

Owners either lying, or uneducated. Only place (correct me if i'm wrong) you'll find a Dana 60 under an FSJ is the rear axle on a J20.

Unless someone has swapped them in, you have Dana 44's.
