what was the stock rim width 1976 cherrokee cheif with aluminum 5 slot rims? thanks buying new tires that say the rims have to be at least 8.5 so im hopping thats what i have:D

What size tires? Generally you can put 12.5" wide tires on a 7" wide rim, but it's better to go with a 9 or 10" rim. If you can find a narrower version of the tire you want, I suggest you go with that unless you want extra flotation for sand or such.

The stock standard stamped steel rims for 6 lug FSJs were 6" wide. The 5 slot and later factory mag wheels for Wags and Cheros are 7" wide. The wide track Cheros and Jtrucks that had factory chrome or white spoke rims were 8" wide.
