GAS IN THE OIL SINCE I BOUGHT HER?

87 G WAGONEER 360 WHEN I WAS LOOKING TO GET THIS VEHICLE I FOUND WIRES CROSSED ON THE PLUGS! THE OWNER PUT THEM BACK WRONG AND IT RAN GREAT AFTER PUTTIN THE WIRES BACK RIGHT! HE TOLD ME THERE WAS GAS IN THE OIL SO HE CHANGED IT! I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS BECUASE OF THE WIRES , BUT IM STILL GETTIN GAS IN THE OIL! IVE PUT IN A DIFFERENT CARB, NEW FUEL PUMP ! AND STILL HAPPENING???? IM THINKING EXHAUST BUT IM LOST!!!!!

try another pump. thats the only reason for this xcept poss. bad rings,alas you say it runs great so i doubt it is rings

I agree, it is the fuel pump. Also, if it is a lot of gas it can be very dangerous.

CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER STAT!!! IS THE TAILPIPE PUTTING OUT BLACK SMOKE? IS GAS DRIPPING OUT OF THE WEEPHOLE ON THE NEW FUEL PUMP? DOES YOUR KEYBOARD HAVE A LOWER CASE? :D check the float level on the carb. swap in a coil, this will give weak spark and not burn all the fuel. is the choke stuck?

new coil, no black smoke and no fuel leaking on the pump! but when it starts in the morning grey smoke and rough idle till its warm! oil has been changed

smoke in morning do to oil staying up on top of head and draining down valve stems.not sure about the 360 but on chevys we would use a coat hanger to clean out the returns on the heads

Gas should have no other route into the oil except by that of a blown diaphragm in the mechanical fuel pump. Change the pump since the diaphragm cannot be repaired. I think a new pump is only about $30.

HBD87GWAG... Welcome to the IFSJA group.
Since the PO crossed the the plug wires it may be possible some vacuum and fuel lines are crossed also. Check the fuel canister lines and the fuel return line. It's always possible to get a bad new or rebuilt part or carburetor. Check the float and power-valve system. Good luck..
