Hope someone here has had this problem and has an easy fix. Friday, my 360 started making a ticking noise which I thought was an exhaust manifold gasket.Of course, the noise is still there after I replaced the manifold gasket. It is originating from under the driver side valve cover. Tonight I put in a qt of Marvel Mystery oil on thi off chance it may be a stuck lifter. My fear is that I have a lobe wearing.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mine did the same thing, and I too replaced the exhaust gasket, but the noise was still there. I removed again and looked at the air injection tubes and one of them had a small hole in it that I fixed w/JB Weld. New ones were $65 per side from the dealer.

The Dorman "HELP!" line has the tubes, as do other aftermarket suppliers; about $30-$35/side (not cheap, but better than the dealer- as long as the JB holds, it's the best solution).

Unfortunately, when the valvetrain on these wears, it's usually the first sign of an engine's terminal disease. You may try replacing a set of rockers and pushrods, but if you have to pull the lifter, then then a rebuild is in order. I've got two 360's that have proven this rule... http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif

Well, I tokk off the valve cover, and unfotunately, it was not the rocker arm. So then I pulled the intake manifold to check the lifter and cam. The lifter bottom was grooved and scored. so you know what I found with the cam. Gone. UGH! So now what? I have 108K miles on the motor, it leaks, and smokes at startup. I could stuff a new cam and lifters in it and wait 6 mos. for something else to break.
I am contemplating a reman Jasper engine for $2200. I can get a Chrysler reman engine for $2500, but the warranty is not as good.
Anyone had a similiar problem and just put in a cam with any success?
Anyone have an extra $2500 to donate, I will put your family crest an my windsheild. HA!

About 7 years ago I bought and built a 360 and stuffed it into a CJ and had alot less then $2200 in it. And I even went with the Edelbrock Performer package. Ran like a "Raped Ape". Of course I have since graduated to FSJ's http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif
