View Full Version : I really should be driving the GW every day

Today I'm driving to school in the Mustang, and what comes up behind me and passes me, but a GW with a pignose grille and faded woodgrain. Cool. Too bad I'm not driving the GW. The GW passes me, stays ahead of me for awhile, then gets off at an exit. As I pass it, I see the driver is a girl about my age:thumbsup:, she's looking ahead, ignoring the Mustang (more proof that FSJ driver's are more responsible, or maybe she just needed every bit of concentration to keep the Jeep on the road,). She looked like she was enjoying the drive actually, I wish I had been in my GW cause that would have been cool, what a better way to meet a girl than in an FSJ? I thought that was the stuff of fantasy but apparently it could be true. What annoys me is that I was just about to go hop in the GW and drive it to school instead of the Mustang, but I didn't :banghead:.
I do already plan to switch to driving the GW and Chero most of the time though. The gas mileage is only slightly worse than the Mustang, and I'm sick of constantly looking behind me and scanning the highway ahead for police cars, which still doesn't prevent getting pulled over often, this red and black car just attracts way too much negative attention.
It seems like such a cruel joke that I almost took the GW, and it would have been a good choice for today's drive. Oh well, if the Jeep Gods smile upon me and wish it, I'll find an FSJ'n chick who's cool. Now to go drive up and down Sunrise highway several times...

bah-if you'd have taken the GW,she surely would've driven her mustang.

Hahahaha. Don't joke like that! lol. Well, the way I figure it, if she had a Mustang, she would have at least taken notice of mine. She didn't look at my car at all (which seems that only police officers and Fox body Mustang fans can actually see it).

This is priceless... Earth to Men - Women don't care what car you drive. The only people who find your Mustang worth looking at are other men. In fact we snicker to ourselves (and girlfriends if they're riding shotgun) that men who drive "look at me" muscle cars are obviously compensting for something. Hate to break it to you Dan.

Had you been driving the GW she would not even have noticed.
It is my experience than women are in their own little world most of the time and we make a lot more of our interactions with them than they do.

How would anyone know if she particularly like FSJ's or not? It's worth a shot, if she likes a somewhat uncommon and unique vehicle such as a Wagoneer, then she sees someone else with one, maybe she'd want to meet them. Maybe not.
If she didn't notice the same exact type of car as hers, that you don't see one of every day, then so be it, oh well. If she doesn't care then she doesn't, but there's that chance she did, and that's what makes me wish I had the GW. I wish I was driving an FSJ every time I wasn't and then saw another FSJ, just because I like to meet people who chose the same oddball car, that's why I'm here on this site, no?
Nevermind that I'm pretty much just joking around. I don't seriously expect to find the love of my life or something because we were both driving the same type of car when we happen upon each other on the highway, that's like a story from a children's movie or goofy romance novel. I'm just saying; if you see someone of the opposite sex driving your favorite kind of car, wouldn't you want to be driving that type of car right then, if not just for the thumbs-up and smiles? Or is every car just a hollow object on wheels that merely gets you from one place to another?
Also, I noted above that only fans of Fox Body Mustangs and police officers ever seem to pay any attention to my Mustang. So if a girl was a Mustang fan she likely would at the very least notice the car. Not that it means anything, just that a fan of a particular type of car tends to notice one when they drive by it, and at least give it a couple looks and maybe a thumbs-up as they pass. I've noticed both men and women will do this.
Otherwise I know quite well that a person who isn't interested in sports cars, 4x4s, or just cars in general, doesn't care what kind of car someone drives so long as it's comfortable to ride in. Like I said, only police officers and Mustang fans notice my car, although I swear it's just completely invisible to half the other drivers on the road, the way they drive as if there is no car where I am.
Anyway my car isn't supposed to be a 'look at me' muscle car either. It was offered to me when I was searching for an FSJ, and it happens to be red. I never chose the color, I'd prefer dark grey or silver so it doesn't stand out. I thought the red and black just looked cool and I liked it, but I'm repainting it dark red or grey in the future so it looks more ordinary and subdued.
I think Mike is the only one who knew I was joking about my horrible misfortune of being in the wrong car at the right time

every time i see a nice waggy driving around i'm always in my chebbie so i can't honk and waive. though i've not seen any chick my age driving one. most are middle aged men. not that i need that, i've got enough trouble picking between a few ladies right now, fsj girls would only complicate things more!

Dude,
I knew you were joking, my post was more of a satire on the obliviousness of women than on anything you did/ did not do.
Every time I go to the gas statin i get asked about my woody, and every time it is a middle-aged man.

I think if you would have taken the wag you would never of seen her. In the mustang you must have been going...oh, I don't know...like more then 55mph. Unlike in the wag. So...with this...you would never of caught up to her:p.

what're you talking about? the mustang is a girls car."the sports car a secretary can afford".
now more of a hot-rod escort than a muscle car......

Funny, but a hundred guys to perhaps one gal have commented or asked about my Wagoneer, but the girls tend to go ga-ga over my pickup trucks--especially the '53 Dodge. Don't ask me why.
DanHS perhaps that girl is a commuter, which means you might encounter her again while driving your FSJ. Also bear in mind that the Pignose may belong to her boyfriend..... :D

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was driving my pickup to lunch one day and a cute blonde in a late '80's Grand Wagoneer pulled up next to me at a stop light. I didn't feel too bad about it since I'm married and my wife likes (tolerates) my Grand Wagoneer, as long as it earns it's keep. I think I'll keep her...

I agree. Girls don't notice cars, only hundred dollar bills. Paste hundred dollar bills on the side of a go cart and you'll have all the girls you can handle.
After all boys....they are sitting on the world you're trying to win.

I never seem to get many comments from anyone on the GW, I've only gotten a few from other FSJ owners and a few Jeep owners (the handful that recognized what it is). If I had been in the GW yesterday I think I would have at least gotten a wave and a thumbs up out of it, maybe even a new friend, or maybe not. Better to give it a chance than to not even care. I do actually manage to drive the FSJ at normal highway speeds, so I'd have been cruising the same speed as the other traffic like I do in the Mustang, 65-70mph, and she would have passed me at some point. Oh well, I happen to still be alive and well, and aside from the slight possibility of potentially meeting another FSJ'r who happens to also be a girl, life shall go on fine. Although I shall always wonder about that FSJ driving girl whenever I drive though that area, and one day perhaps... lol
i cant leave my driveway in my j10 without heads turning-- men and women. i think some people may underestimate just how few FSJs are left in the northeast. Now, whether they turn thier heads for "wow look at that thing!" or "what the hell is that?" doesnt matter to me

I have to disagree with the girls not noticing cars bit. I was at a stoplight in the j20 one afternoon and 2 girls pulled up and honked. So i shot em a cool smile and drove off, but they followed and kept honking til i turned on my street.

this thread is getting pretty funny!
Most of the comments come from guys my age or old men but that's ok. The best time was this past March when I was pulling my trailer home with my J20. A knock out of a gal got out of a grand cherokee at the fuel pump across from me and had to come over and compliment the truck. What a great day that was - then I got a 5000 volt shock from my wedding ring......
It was a good day anyway.
Women are peculiar.... Back when I was single I couldn't buy a date, as soon as I did get married and had a ring on my finger they all started to flirt.

honestly, i never had much luck with the ladies until i started sporting a soul patch. i did it to test a theory and it proved correct... now i can't seem to keep them off me! in fact, sunday evening i had two dates in one night!
but its sad to say only 2 girls i have dated have actually liked my jeep. oh well, beggers can't be choosers... right? in fact, the latest interest turns out to be an environmentalist. not extreme or anyhing, but i have a feeling that she won't be too fond of the fsj. :(
