I have been looking for a camper shell for my J10. Whenever I look in the paper or somewhere like Craigslist they list the type of truck not the dimensions. What other makes of trucks have the same size bed as a J10?
Not positive, but you might want to check for a small dodge pickup.
Usually when I see one from another make it is larger than the J truck.

I had one built for my J10 long-bed. They gave it that old school look by using aluminum with running lights. Looks very good. Call around in your area, maybe someone in your area builds them. Price was about the same as a new one.

Long bed or short bed? Tne J-truck beds taper in at the top, making them narrower than the'big three'full size beds. But I've heard the width is similer to the earlier Dakota. So if you you have a long(8')bed it might fit,the short, you're SOL as the short Dakota is 6.5......I have an 8 footer I'd sell...but I'm near Detriot.....Almost all pick ups up here have caps on them............

Here's the only one I've ever seen offered that says specifically for fsj.
Kinda tough to ship something like that, but maybe you can get the seller to measure it for you.

That looks like the one in the options section of a '75 sales brochure.
And then there's Cappa who had that hideous one on his '73 with the full rear door.
I agree with making one out of an aluminum frame and sheeting. Doors and windows should be easy to get.

Jeff double check your measurements a short bed is 7'
amc little gimic, same wheel base as a ford short bed pickup only the bed was made a foot longer and the cab and engine compartment was made smaller.
Thats why the cabs are so small. The gimic of course being with a 7 foot bed you could haul more.

Mike it's a 7 footer. And it's not a common size for a camper shell.

No, it will not fit. The Dakota long beds are 8' like a long bed J truck but the short bed Dakotas are only 6' 6". You are pretty much SOL trying to find another make of pickup to fit your 7' bed. Jeep was about the only maker to use a 7' bed on their short bed.

Gee like I didn't see that coming. It's a Jeep thing and I DO understand.

Jeff
I got a hacked off rear section of a 65 waggon in my back yard if you want to try and use it as a base for a custom camper. Its about 6 foot in length.
