I have posted this on the doubler thread but I am not sure it gets looked at that often so I thought I would post it here also:

I am new at the waggy thing and am a little overwhelmed with all of the doubler talk.

I have a 1989 grand wagoneer with Dana 44s front and rear and the front is driver side drop.

My questions are, What make should the 205 and 203 be from to fit behind my 727?

Do i have to just buy the adapter to connect the 203/205 or are there other mods I have to do?

What is the spline count on my 727 and is there any mods I have to do there?

Sorry, for all of the Q's but for some reason my simple mind is having a hard time gripping the build up of the doubler.

Thanks for you help!

Since your wag is a drivers drop front axle. You are going to want to find a ford NP205. Ford is the only ones that used them. Chevy, dodge, and IH all used passenger drop versions. As far as the 203 range box, I dont think it really matters what it came from. So pick the one that best fits your transmission. The front face of the 203 can be re-drilled if needed.
In the doubler thread there are pics and a discussion going on about a guy putting a ford 203 rangebox onto his 727. And your 727 should be a 23 spline output.

You will need the adaptor to bolt the 203 and 205 together. There are a few places that make them. (I would suggest north west fab) To put all this in you wag you are gonna need to get rid of your stock gas tank and use a rear mounted one. You will need to fab up a support for the NP205 (that is something you will HAVE to do) You will also need new driveshafts, front will be longer and rear will be shorter. You will also have to make shifters for everything.
