http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/mad.gif My day from Hell! Last night my 4 year old went retro and peed in her bed 2 times. The dog then gets my wife, when she got up to take care of our baby, by peeing in 2 different locations in our tiled "great room" (dog hasn't ever peed in two spots before). My 4 yr. old has a B-day party and I'm suppose to get the cake with the 65 Wag. I load her the car seat, get in, turn the key and notta. Starter's DEAD! Wife was going to take the Durango and the baby to set up the party at Chuck-E-Cheese but plans changed and we all go to get the cake. Oh yeah, the Durango is on vapors. I start to head towards my normal gas station and the wife says "why am I going to that one?" http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif So I flip a U E and start heading the 8 miles to get gas by Sam's Club where the cake is (Durango gets 12 mpg after I upgraded it) so now I'm sweeting http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif Then my wife asks me to drop her off first to get the cake (to save time), while I go get the gas http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif and all I'm thinking about is that will add another 1/4 mile. I drop her off, make it to the gas station, reach in the change thing for the gas keys and "What the #$*&% ?" The keys are not there http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/mad.gif I felt lucky to make it that far and now I can't get the gas in the car. I'm thinking I don't think I'll even make it to Sams Club, let alone back to the gas station. But my brain still worked enough to get me to fill up the gas can just in case. The story continues ... I make it to Sams and flip out on my wife (as much as you can in front of the B-Day girl and baby) and she says she saw some keys on the island that I left there the other day (yeah I #@%*&^ up). Wife's stressing, because the guests will be getting to Chuck-E-Cheese in 15 mins. and I say "Everything will be ok because I know the mechanics at Super Wal-Mart and they can drill the lock core out of the gas cap. I pull up and one of the guys I know walks up and I tell him what happened and he says they don't have a drill. The rest of the guys, and service manager show up to work on my problem. Solution, one hammer and one screwdriver. The B-day Party went perfectly http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

QUESTION: What's the protocol for the starter (232, starter located by exhaust manifold) problem? RECAP: I turned key, no click, engine cold, lights on dash, no nothing. Last time this happened a jump at the battery didn't get anything either.

MENTAL NOTE: Mike D. (IFSJA member) just emailed me two days ago and said I was lucky that I didn't have anymore starter problems since the "carwash incident". When I read his email I thought "knock on wood", but I didn't.

check all connections for security and cleanliness. short across the solenoid to see if its bad. BE CAREFUL! if it cranks, get a new solenoid. if it dont, keep looking!
