hello all, i'm new here and i've got an '89 gw 360/229/3.31, etc. that i've been working on for sometime now(it sat for a couple years before i bought it). i'm in the finishing stages and it should be running and driving again pretty soon :fsj: . in the next couple days i'll be ordering the bj's 4" lift, and in order to fit 33's i'm pretty sure i'm going to need a "little more". i have no problem doing some fender trimming, but would like to also use a 1" body lift to help out. i swear i read somewhere that someone found you could use a certain year of wrangler body lift that was actually a new urethane body mount built 1" taller for a little more lift, i would definitely prefer that to the "pucks". i can't find anything on that topic now.... anyone have any experience with this? tia.

Welcome to the madness! FSJ body lifts can be found on various parts sites, yea the Wrangler kits should work BUT the FSJ body lifts can be had for the same price.

Some here will say don't go over 1" about 2" is how far you can go before extensions need to be made for linkages, lines and whatnot, 3" is the tallest available.

thank you. yeah, i'm not a big fan of stupid looking mongo body lifts; i won't be going any higher than 1", just looking to buy a little more room. maybe just new stock mounts with a 1" spacer? it just seemed incorparating the two together would be a more stout set-up, and i've only seen that option for wranglers. something like this: http://www.4wheelerssupply.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/71086

shouldn't he be able to go the one inch shackle lifts from bj's and steer clear from the whole body lift thing? never seen the 1 in. kits, only 2-3 kits.

The shackle kits only are for the front, he would need to match the rear with AAl's or blocks. BJ's sells 1" BL's

AFAIK the 2" shackles only give 1" of lift ... you could use the 1" body kit and the 2" shackles together and get what you are after.

BTW ... shackles are only good for up front ... you will need AAL's or blocks for the rear. IMHO the AAL(add a leaf) is best!!!

thanks for the replys. keep in mind this is going to be in addition to the bj's 4" kit, so i'd rather not do an aal. maybe a shackle in the front and a 1" block in the back?

withot trimming you generally need 6" of lift to clear 33's on a Wagoneer

I'd say go 4" front springw/ 1" shackles up front
4" springs with a 1" block out back

and a 1" body lift

BJ's sells the body lift kit,but www.mountainoffroad.com sell unniversal 1" body lift mounts for a decent price. Just buy the # of mounts you need, new poly body mounts and 1" longer grade 8 bolts.

i don't mind trimming a little, although i'm starting to think maybe i should just order the 6" kit? i was leaning toward the 4" to avoid ending up with too stiff a ride....second opinions on the 6" vs. 4"?
