how strong are 89 GMC suburban 10 bolts compared to stock dana 44s form and 89 grand wagoneer. There is a kid in town selling a set of ten bolt axles for $250 is it worth it, I don't know much about them?

The front is arguably a tiny bit stronger than a D44 as it has a stronger pinion. The rear has c-clip, which suck. It is not worth swapping to them. Look for 3/4 ton axles if you are wanting to upgrade.

I think they are comparable to dana 44's.

The only upside to swapping those 10-bolts in is going to be a wider track width for more stability.Plus the '89 10-bolt front on Blazers,Jimmys and Suburbans has a passenger side drop differential, while your Wags is a driver side diff.
The front 10-bolt isn't bad if you snag an 8-lug 3/4 ton version and a semi-float 14-bolt for the rear to go with it. but you're going to either need to swap to a Ford driver-drop front axle,or swap out your transfer case for a passenger side drop unit in order to run a GM front axle.
Do not let the "its cheap and I want something done" bug getcha
hold out for better axles
you could sell the Dana44's under your '89 for about $400 and find a better set to replace them for about the same $$$. Or once you find the axles 3/4 ton axles you want you can be certain that once you swap them in you can get your money back (for the axles, not the mods needed to get the 'new' ones to work) .
If it was me, I'd swap in a Dana300 t-case(which is more or less a bolt-in), get a good 8-lug GM 10-bolt front, a 9.5" 8-lug 14bolt semi-float rear , do the necessary spring-over/steering mods and have a blast (I'd recommend going back to stock springs and getting rid of those 6" BJ's springs if you're going SOA. You'd be way up there!)

Nice looking Wag by the way
