Just wondering if an air conditioning compressor out of a 79 Waggy would work for an OBA set up in my Wrangler? I've seen some how to articals mentioning a York compressor... Anyone have any info specificaly regarding the Waggy unit?

i think they're all about the same, and that any of them will work...

you might try searching the internet for on board air, or york and jeep.... or something along those lines.. I'm sure there are kits to bracket the york for your motor..

welll....heres the thing....some systems circulate the oil ( for lubrication) through the lines mixed with the freon and some are oiled independantly from the freon...you can see that if it was being oiled through the freon, and you removbe the freon, that it aint gonna last too long....now I dont have the specs in front of me, but that is why they use the york...and only certain models of York at that...there is a real beauty of a writeup on it at www.cascadecrawlers.com (http://www.cascadecrawlers.com)
...tells you what to look for and what vehicles and what compressors and all that. In short, your waggy compressor is prolly insufficient....but I could use one for my AC system if you wanna send it my way :D ;)

Any York will work, it's more a matter of what brackets your using and which pulley your going to use. I made a setup for my wrangler similiar to Kilby's and it worked fine with my York (pulled from a wago), but my buddy's York didn't line up (different year wago, different vbelt pulley on it). The best york to get is off a volvo, as I recall the volvo has a 9in stroke compared to the typical 8in.
