Has anyone ever used a teleflex cable on an '80's FSJ to engage 4-wheel drive (I have an np 228)? I have my transfer case out and was just thinking it would be more reliable and simpler than the little vacuum motor powered by the switch under the dash. Any thoughts?

Somebody, can't remember who, makes a cable to engage the tc instead of the vac stuff.

I think that that would be RB. He was one of the first to do it.

I think Frank from Norway is hooked-up like that also

Does this work for the vac disconnect front d44 on an 84 GW? Or is it just to engage the TC?

Frank, RB,and myself did the cable setup for a QT 13-39 t-case and not the later model NP cases. It was a relatively easy project in terms of the cable set-up and you should be able to adapt our ideas to the newere t-cases. Check the archives, that's where I found my ideas. One of the guys has a link to some great pics. If you can't find anything, e-mail me and I can describe what I did, although it may take ahwile for me to get back to you because I am super busy right now.

Millerluck was working on a system for the 229 and QT. I don't know if he has finished either yet though.
