One of my sign customers is my local Jeep Dealer. I had to stop and see the owner today about some work that I'm doing for him and, since it's a BEAUTIFUL day outside today, I drove my Grand Wagoneer there.

I walked into the show room and one of the salesman stops me and says, "PLEEEAAASE tell me that is your trade-in!"
I said "Sure, I'll swap you even up for that Hemi Grand Cherokee Limited." ($45,000)
He says, "Oh, Come on, You know we can't do that."
(Like I was serious...)

I said, "Well, I guess it's not a trade-in then!"

I met the owner and took care of what I was there for, and as I was leaving , the same salesman is staring out the window at my GW and softly says,
"She's sure got some style, don't she?"

Yes sir, she sure does....:D

Awesome. I got a similar response last time I picked up some parts at the dealer.

Last time I was in a Jeep dealer the schlub at the parts counter had no idea what an NP/229 transfer case was. "are you sure? I've never heard of one of those."

The Jeep Dealership in State College, PA still has the big AMC Jeep sign out front.

Frank, that is awesome. I can only imagine what kind of response you'd get if you drove your J-200 up on the lot. Yours is the only one I've ever seen.

Haha, thats awesome!
Everytime I drive by one I threaten to stop in with my J10 and act like I want to trade it in. I wonder if any of the sales reps up here would even know it was a Jeep without reading the emblems.

I had a similar occurrence at my local Jeep dealer a while back with my J4000. I had to get a new dipstick tube and happened to be driving it that day. I parked right next to the door for the maintenance dept and when I came out, about 6 mechanics were looking at it. One of the older guys said, "this is what a real Jeep looks like". They especially liked it when I took off across the parking lot and rattled the windows- I looked back to see the older guy flashing a thumbs up.

Cool! Where are you from? My family is from Wisconsin's east coast, not too very sure about before that though...
Dunno why my webby didn't work though... Should load right up.

Wait til you pull up to the Chevy parts house in your J-10, go in and tell them what you're looking for (tranny shifter bushings in my case) and they ask what vehicle it's for!! I told them, and the new guy that waited on me didn't know what to do.

The old guy behind the counter didn't even miss a lick and had the parts looked up right away. Young kid got upset when he got made to look up the parts for himself!! LOL!

Yep something like that happened to me a couple years ago. I had to stop at the dealer for something (mabey I was just bored and was looking at new jeeps) but I had a salesman beging me to trade my cherokee in on a old Oldsmobile they had on the lot (70's model) I was looking at. He offered to swap keys for keys...lol. I told him no way. As I was getting ready to leave he asks me to trade for something because his manager told him to come out and not let me leave with the cherokee. Needless to say, I still have it.

When the stupid valet kid screwed my perfectly fine 300K+mile unrebuilt trans and transfer case I took it to the dealer to get the work done, out of spite. $4,500 total and the restraunt paid for it. One of the mechanics took it home for the night after the swap was done, I was caught off guard seeing my Jeep in somebody else's driveway. The coolest part was that they sat my Jeep out front of the dealership until I could get it picked up.:fsj:

Grand Wag-Which dealer are you talkin bout boy? Milford, Ashley, Dale's or one in NY:confused:

A little OT, but I'm glad to hear that you got your Jeep fixed!

Well I am in need of a few little bits and pieces, guess I'll check one of the Jeep dealers around and see if they have reasonable prices on said items. Perhaps I'll make a visit the local one when I've got the Chero all good to go, that would be neat, rumble up the service door in the rusty old Chero.

jstggs, glad you got the Jeep fixed right, that story makes me fear valets more though. It's not like I go to fancy restaurants and such often, but I just can't trust someone I don't know to drive my car. Especially with the Chero, they'd go to put it first, but instead put it in reverse since the T-15 has reverse to the left and up. The only thing that would keep them from taking off backwards, is the 3:1 ratio in reverse would probably make them stall it out when they released the clutch too fast.
