View Full Version : How do I re-connect the EGR?
I don't have any clue how they work but I want to re-connect it to see if it helps my upcoming smog test. There is a vacuum port on the EGR, is it constant or ported vacuum?
I have a Holley 4bbl single plane intake and the Edelbrock 1406 carb.
Thanks,

Don't know about your 79, but my 84gw has the egr hooked to the port on the back of the breather. There are two nipples coming out of the back of that assembly. The egr should be hooked to the port closer to the driver's side. There should also be an f/delay vavle in that vacuume line.

My setup may be more similar to your's 243...EGR getting ported vac from a 115 deg (I think, white anyway) CTO that's at the passenger front of the intake...
Hope it helps, good luck on the testing smile.gif
If it's connected to ported vacuum via a CTO, does this mean it won't recirculate exhaust gas until it reaches operating temperature?
If yes, I think I should T-off my constant vacuum for the TH400 and make sure the Wag is good and hot when I go for the test.

Keeping the EGR from kicking in until the engine has warmed up is more of a driveability than an emissions issue, so you can just hook it up to straight ported vacuum for the test.
