Hey guys, this kind of embarassing but........I was changing my water pump and one thing lead to another plus I was getting interrupted. Then the alternator bracket fell off because it had broken in the past and someone had tried to weld it, got it crooked, then stripped the bolt that attaches the alt to block. Well in time I didn't pay close enough attention and I need a picture of how this goes back together.:o I've welded it back together and got a longer bolt to hold it in place but when something's not right.:banghead:

Thanks, Ristow but that is not like mine. Yours has an extra bracket mine does not have.
Mdill, I have tried there but the picture is of a '71 and is different also.
MIne is a 360, '79 J-10, AMC
Maybe someone has changed or lost a piece?

Yep, I have the old York that sets up on top above the alt.

I have one rather long bracket that has four holes in it. Also the adjusting arm but the other bracket that was bolted to the alt was broken off right there. Where yours has two brackets on the alt besides the adjuster mine only has one doing the work of your two.

I thought someone here was producing a billet alternator bracket to ease the installation of the high amp Caddy units.
There has been several write ups about the installation of such units and they have all spoke about
tweaking or bending and/or grinding and enlarging the bolt hole.
Then someone gave some info of a billet bracket, but I can not find it now.

Here it is: on closer inspection it appears like one that Ristow posted but he has one arm and a spacer I don't. I may be missing it? Many thanks to those who reponded.

Mine has a long spacer only on the bolt that goes into the bolt where yours has the short arm and short spacer then the long spacer. I almost wish I had pulled the front bumper because I have a winch and brushguard that I'm working around and over.
