ok, took the plow off the truck, it is a 71 gladiator, if i drive above 40 mph, the front tire starts to what feels like bouncing, the steering wheel shakes real bad, then when i slow down below 40 it goes away, it almost seems like a balancing problem, but i looked under the front right tire, and it looks like i have some leaking going on in the front hub, any ideas on what i should check first...

I would check, tie rod, ball joints. I would bet on the tie rod end being wore out.

i was afraid it was the tie rod end, how hard are they to replace, i have done one in a late 80's caravan, it wasn't to bad, but am afraid this will be worse, has anyone done one?

From all I’ve heard, seen and read steering stablizers or shocks will fix it most of the time.

Here is a link that may be of some help..

Id go ahead and try a new shock first. I've had the same problem lots of times and it's always been the shocks. A guy I knew exlpained to me that this is what the shocks are actually for and he demonstraited it by bouncing a tire in the driveway of his shop. It bounces like a spring and the spring it's under bounces it back down and then the tire bounces again etc etc. I know that it seems dumb but it's true. New shocks fixed the problem every time.
