You would probably have to as you'd be getting more air than usual. You'd probably only be looking at a few jet sizes nothing major.

i already have a 14 inch air cleaner do you think that there would be enough air flow to warrant rejetting. Also how would you tune since at highway speeds you would be getting a lot more air than slow crawl four wheeling. I know ideally i need feul injection but thats not an option at the moment. Just been toying around with making my own ram air kinda of like what was used un the cuda's shaker hood style with a block off plate for water and four wheeling and a seperate under hood intake to be used during water crossings ect
thanks for the input

I can't see it making that big of a difference, I cut the snoot off mine just behind the vacuum gate and turned it back towards the firewall to keep it from taking big hits of water. It runs good on the trail and the highway.

Make sure you do a write-up with pics so we can do it also. I have a TBI on mine and would like to see a mod like this. Thanks....

Unless you spend a fair bit of time over 100 MPH, and use a huge Formula-1 type scoop, any pressure differential you'll be able to generate will be essentially meaningless. About the best you can do from a power standpoint is to avoid drawing hot under-hood air, and the stock setup accomplishes that nicely.

I have a Dodge Max Wedge scoop on mine. I upjetted the Eddie carb 2 numbers. After doing highways runs the plugs were white indicating lean conditions. I up jetted and the plugs are bronze colored again. Don't worry about water crossings. If you have water that high up you'll have other problems. I took mine across a creek at speed and had water blowing out the scoop forward. I think one of the CFSJA members has video, funny stuff. The biggest thing you will notice with a scoop is how much heat it vents out of the engine compartment. On mine during the summer the heat waves make it hard to see at a stop light

Thats kinda what I was thinking.
Chazer,
Are you making it into a faster ground pounder? Is this for braggin rights? Ram air doesnt do much with the average speeds most people drive these rigs safely. Definitely no help off road. I think its way way more work than its worth. Unless, its for braggin rights, then its great. :p If you want more pressure in a slow mover, get a super charger!! :D My 0.02

I wanted to do it for a couple of reasons including bragging rights:D . I dont expect to get much extra performance from the ram air aspect of it but i do think i would have a noticable difference with the cold air charge because as i stated earlier currently i have a 14 inch edlebrock air cleaner and while it pretty much offers no resistance i am sucking in all that hot air coming off the engine and my headers. I would love a supercharger but from all the posts ive seen it doesnt sound like the internals of a stock 360 could handle it and i dont really feel like doing that much work with the engine at the moment. I would rather find a 401 and build that one from the ground up spec ed for a supercharger.
so if i get my ram built this summer ill right a post on it for all you guys:thumbsup:

while were talking super chargers i came across one that i can pick up for 300 catch is its for a gm 3.8l engine is this just to small to use on a 360 i know its not ideal but i was just curious if you could make it work with an overdrive pulley ?

I'm certainly no expert on superchargers, but I think that one might be just too small for 5.9 liters. If I'm not mistaken, that's the M45 blower, and even some of the higher-revving 1.6-liter motors benefit from going up to an M60 (not sure what OEMs used it -- maybe Mercedes?). Problem with overdriving a small blower too much is that efficiency drops off quickly. I'd pass on it, but it could concievably be made to bump low-end torque a bit (guessing 10-20%) with 2 or 3 pounds of boost -- hardly seems worth the effort & added complexity.
